Shades of Fremont!…..local town citizens take up action against influx of Hispanics!

Posted by nebraskaobserver on September 2, 2008

It seems that residents of the community of Goshen, Indiana are “… damn sick and tired of pressing one for English” according to Bob Schrameyer, leader of Citizens for Immigration Law Enforcement, or CILE, recently formed to spur stricter enforcement of immigration law. The continued influx of illegal immigrants and the changes they bring, however, have just been too much to take, especially with the slow-down in U.S. economy and the increasing number of layoffs in the community.

Surprisingly, besides also having an illegal immigration issue, Goshen is a small town with striking similarities to Fremont, Nebraska as shown below.

This Goshen group was formed out of members’ interest in cracking down on undocumented workers and their employers. Here’s some interesting points to ponder according to retired truck leasing firm operator Bob Schrameyer and Goshen City Councilwoman Dixie Robinson.

  1. “They’re not against all immigrants, it’s just the illegal ones ” says Schrameyer.
  2. According to Schrameyer, “there’s nothing wrong with the immigrants coming and filling the jobs, as long as they’re legal.”
  3. Why shouldn’t those opposed to illegal immigration here raise their voice?” says Schrameyer.
  4. “We’ve got the law on our side.” They’re the ones who are here illegally. They’re the ones who broke the law to get here” explains Schrameyer.
  5. We have thousands of people here in Elkhart and St. Joe counties who are unemployed and can’t get work and illegals are working” said Robinson, elected to the Goshen council last year, in part on her stance on the immigration issue.
  6. They want to give foes of illegal immigration a voice. Robinson says “such critics are frequently hesitant about speaking out for fear of being labeled racist.
  7. If you’re illegal, you’re illegal,” said Robinson. “This isn’t anything about being racist, prejudiced.”
  8. Schrameyer sees the undocumented immigrants as “thumbing their nose” at law enforcement, complains they don’t pay their share of income taxes and gripes about other cultural intrusions brought on by their presence. “The community is damn sick and tired of pressing one for English,” he said.
  9. Schrameyer tires of talk of “diversity,” that is, the notion touted by immigrant defenders that the food, customs and other markers of the newcomers’ home countries enhance the local culture.

Group members envision seeking enforcement of existing law that they say is ignored and pushing for new state legislation requiring employers to be more stringent in checking their workers’ migratory status. They’ll also be pressing local candidates for office on their immigration views. ALIPC story eTruth story

Immigration agents focusing on Fremont

Posted by nebraskaobserver on August 21, 2008

WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

FREMONT, Neb. – Federal immigration agents have stepped up efforts in Fremont since the debate over a controversial City Council proposal that would have punished those who rented to or hired illegal immigrants, local leaders said Wednesday.

“We’ve had a lot more contact with their field agents,” Doug Campbell, Dodge County Director of Correction, said of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“They’ve been coming up and talking to us in person, reassuring us that if we need anything they’re there and available,” Campbell said.

County Attorney Paul Vaughan said ICE has placed more federal “holds” on illegal immigrants serving time for previous criminal acts.

News Bulletin: Fremont, Nebraska immigration task force grows!

Posted by nebraskaobserver on August 18, 2008

The Fremont, Nebraska task force on the cities illegal immigration issues has expanded to include representatives from the Attorney General Jon Bruning, U.S. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry and U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson’s offices. Too bad they don’t include the real elected officials.

Watch for Cindi with the Hispanic sounding name from the World-Herald to ask La Raza (The Race), the ACLU, the Nebraska Appleseed Project and many other radical nut groups if it’s OK! She is probably working overtime as our item is being posted. KPTM news item

EDITORIAL: Shades of the National Socialist Movement…ugly pro-illegal immigration rally in Arizona (an example of the truth!)

Posted by nebraskaobserver on July 15, 2008

In reference to our posting yesterday of comments by Mark Brannen, Omaha, regarding the recent July 5 neo-Nazi demonstration in South Omaha against illegal immigration, we offer these observations.

Since, the NebraskaObserver was not there, we do not know specifically what was being said in Mark’s alleged “discriminatory rant about illegal immigration”, however if any racial comments were made they are inexcusable in our opinion.

That said, the public needs to know (and the World-Herald and any other state or national news organization is not going to tell you) that the mere criticism of our nation’s immigration system or problems associated with illegal immigration is immediately condemned by the “open borders” crowd as “hate speech” and “racist”. It’s in their “play book”.

Now yelling and using a loudspeaker is fair game as far as we are concerned. The “open borders” kooks and liberals have used them for years. Why not anyone else?

Additionally, there is overwhelming evidence that pro-illegal immigration advocates/kooks incite intolerance and violence. For example, see the recent beating and stomping of an effigy of Maricopa County (Phoenix) Sheriff Joe Arpaio, captured on video and reported in the Arizona Daily Star. This occurred at a rally sponsored by the Coalición de Derechos Humanos, a prominent illegal alien advocacy group.

In spite of a truly ugly protest organized by these pro-illegal alien protesters in front of a Tucson, Arizona, bookstore none of the self-anointed guardians of civil discourse have uttered a word of condemnation of these actions.

Oh!…. by the way, clearly depicted in the video, carrying the effigy head of Sheriff Arpaio is Isabel Garcia, an attorney for the Pima County (Tucson) public defender’s office (what’s that all about?).

If it were any other group, including the National Socialist Movement, it would be considered by the “open borders” kooks as a hate crime, but since it’s against a white man, there can’t possibly be any need to raise that issue, right?

If anyone thinks that this does not or will not happen here in Nebraska, think again! All a person has to do is look at the border and surrounding mid-western states. It’s already here, Nebraskans!

In the next few months leading up to the 2009 State legislative session, the NebraskaObserver will be bringing examples of this type of activity to your attention.

Missouri Gov. Blunt Signs Immigration Reform Bill

“A two-year effort to curb illegal immigration in Missouri came to fruition Monday as Gov. Matt Blunt signed legislation designed to catch illegal workers and punish their employers. The bill contains a wide range of new requirements, including mandatory checks on the legal status of all public employees, welfare applicants and criminal suspects whenever they are jailed,” the Kansas City Star reports.

[FAIR’s legal affiliate IRLI, the Immigration Reform Law Institute as well as FAIR activists were involved in making sure that this measure was crafted as well as instrumental in keeping the pressure on to pass it. Kudos to FAIR activists in Missouri for this important victory!]

EDITOR’S NOTE: Just so all you news media types that keep stacking the deck daily for the “open-borders” enthusiast’s within the state, the Chamber of Commerces, liberal educators, so-call faith based organizations, sanctuary cities, unions, contractors and Nebraska meat packers (hope we haven’t left anyone out) think that the majority of the citizens are going to just sit back and let you run this state into the ground, you have another think coming! Similiar legislation will be passed in this state, so all you illegals aliens might just start packing!

Nebraska: Illegal immigrant driver’s license scheme brings stiff prison sentence for one man

Posted by nebraskaobserver on July 2, 2008

An Omaha man, Saidjon Ibragimov, pleaded guilty in federal court as part of a national ring to get driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants. As the co-leader of the operation, Ibragimov, 22, of Omaha was convicted in federal court in Nebraska for transporting 15 illegal immigrants from New Jersey to Nebraska to purchase licenses, between Nov. 30, 2006, and June 13, 2007. Ibragimov was the fourth and final member of the operation to be convicted in the conspiracy and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Ibragimov was charged with bribing a Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles employee in Omaha who told authorities in 2006 about a man who offered to pay her for state driver’s licenses. As it turns out, Ibragimov, a native of Tajikistan, had gotten to know the state worker because he served as a translator at the office.

Investigators said Ibragimov brought people from countries all over the world to Omaha to get illegal licenses and let them stay at his apartment. He gave the DMV agent $4,000 and seven passports, and told the employee he would bring Chinese, Mongolian and Tajik nationals from Chicago and the Nebraska area to the office to obtain licenses. Investigators secretly recorded subsequent conversations between Ibragimov and the DMV employee.

Agents arrested Ibragimov and 14 other people two days after their last taped conversation took place. In addition to the four people convicted in the conspiracy, nine others were charged with fraud and bribery.

At the time of the arrests, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Department, which participated in the eight-month investigation, placed detainers on 10. That meant the agency suspected the men were illegally in the country.

Following his time in jail, Ibragimov will serve three years of supervised release.

EDITOR’S NOTE: We don’t see any reference in either story to whether Ibragimov is a citizen or here on a visa. Is supervised release the same as parole?…or code for illegal who is being allowed to remain in U.S. If he is here legally but not a citizen, why isn’t he being deported? Any ideas out there?

Lincoln: Wheel-chair bound man tries to settle argument with crossbow

Posted by nebraskaobserver on June 24, 2008

Sometimes you can’t make this stuff up folks! Carlos Lupercio of Lincoln, NE got his 15 seconds of fame the last couple of days as news services all over the U.S. picked up the story. It seems Carlos, 49, and wheel-chair bound got into an argument with a 25 yr. old about the breed of the younger man’s dog on the sidewalk.

The owner said the dog was a pit bull, but Lupercio said it was a lab. Apparently, this pissed off Carlos so bad that he went and got his crossbow pistol to settle the argument. After 20 min. (you can imagine, it taking that long by wheel chair…remember the Tim Conway little old man skit?), he returns to settle the score.

The younger man apparently thought it was time to apologize and extended his hand. That’s when Carlos fired from about 2-3 ft., missed him and hit a tree.

Lupercio was arrested and jailed on suspicion of terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony, discharging a weapon within city limits, resisting arrest, failure to comply, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the incident. Do you think?

Supreme Court will hear in-state tuition case for illegal aliens

Posted by nebraskaobserver on June 13, 2008

Should lawful residents of the United States qualify for the same in-state tuition discounts available to illegal aliens? And should states be able to grant illegals preferential treatment over legal residents of this country in violation of federal law? Ten days from now, the Supreme Court will decide whether to hear a case dealing with precisely these issues. That case, Day v. Bond, challenges Kansas’s law providing in-state tuition to illegal aliens while denying it to U.S. citizens living out of state. For 2007-2008, tuition rates at the University of Kansas are $3,195 per semester for state residents and illegal aliens who qualify; U.S. citizens living outside Kansas pay $8,400 per semester – almost three times as much as illegal aliens who pay the discounted in-state rate,” the Washington Times reports. see full story

EDITORS NOTE: If the Kansas law is ruled in violation of the federal law, similar laws in Nebraska and eight other states will be affected, also.
