Missouri Gov. Blunt Signs Immigration Reform Bill

“A two-year effort to curb illegal immigration in Missouri came to fruition Monday as Gov. Matt Blunt signed legislation designed to catch illegal workers and punish their employers. The bill contains a wide range of new requirements, including mandatory checks on the legal status of all public employees, welfare applicants and criminal suspects whenever they are jailed,” the Kansas City Star reports.

[FAIR’s legal affiliate IRLI, the Immigration Reform Law Institute as well as FAIR activists were involved in making sure that this measure was crafted as well as instrumental in keeping the pressure on to pass it. Kudos to FAIR activists in Missouri for this important victory!]

Liberal Supreme Court Justices Green-Light Illegal Immigration (Rush’s take on this!)

Posted by nebraskaobserver on June 18, 2008

As a follow-up to our EDITORIAL Five Idiots On the Bench….Or how to turn 4 1/2 months to 10 years

Here’s Rush Limbaugh’s take on this:

Liberal Supreme Court Justices Green-Light Illegal Immigration
June 16, 2008

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: “The Supreme Court” this morning just prior to the program starting “made it easier … for some foreigners who overstay their visas to seek to remain in the United States legally.” The Supreme Court today 5-4, the same bunch that voted the issue last week with Anthony Kennedy writing the opinion, has just green-lighted illegal immigration. “The court ruled 5-4 that someone who is here illegally may withdraw his voluntarily [sic] agreement to depart and continue to try to get approval to remain in the United States,” while still here. “The decision essentially embraced a proposed Justice Department regulation governing the treatment of similar cases in the future. Samson Dada, a Nigerian citizen, stayed beyond the expiration of his tourist visa in 1998. He married an American the following year and soon began trying to obtain a visa as an immediate relative of a citizen. But Dada and his wife apparently failed to submit some documents, causing immigration officials to deny the visa.

“Dada has been trying again to obtain the visa, but immigration authorities meanwhile have ordered him to leave the country. He agreed to leave voluntarily, which would allow him to try sooner to re-enter the country legally than if he had been deported. The court’s task,” and once again, this is the Associated Press, “was to decide whether he could withdraw his voluntary agreement to leave the country and continue to try to adjust his status while in the United States. Immigration authorities recently ruled that Dada had entered a ‘sham’ marriage in order to stay [here], but that finding was not part of the court’s consideration. Justice Kennedy wrote the majority opinion, joined by his four liberal colleagues. The four conservative justices dissented. Justice Antonin Scalia said, ‘The court lacks the authority to impose its chosen remedy.'”

And that’s it in a nutshell. Once again, the Supreme Court of the United States is micromanaging an area left to another branch. In this case, the Constitution explicitly leaves it to Congress to regulate immigration. This is not what judging is supposed to be about. These judges on the left are no more than political hacks now, imposing their own personal policy preferences rather than interpreting the law. It’s been going on a long time. You know, if they want to be politicians then their conduct has been exposed and questioned. It’s the same thing with their attitudes and their motives. This is not what judging is supposed to be about. The Constitution does not countenance this kind of behavior on the part of judges. The court, I doubt that it will be, but it would be great if it became a major focus of the presidential campaign now that it’s out. The problem we hear again, I don’t know. I haven’t heard what Senator McCain said about this, but he probably agrees with it. He came out stridently against the Guantanamo Bay ruling last week, but he probably…

I don’t know, but if he understands this as an encroachment on congressional authority, then he’s got to oppose this. The Supreme Court just told Congress, “You can’t do what you did. We’re going to write the immigration laws, not you.” Now, just last week, the Supreme Court of the United States bestowed constitutional rights to foreign-born terrorists. The ruling last week is a chilling demonstration along with this ruling today of the American divide between conservatives and liberals. Four liberals on the court, aided and abetted by Justice Kennedy, used the Guantanamo Bay case as a power grab. Their decision overturned precedent since our founding that placed the prosecution of war squarely within the executive branch. Naturally, Democrats last week and this week are celebrating the ruling, celebrated amid warnings that it will cost American troops their lives. But this decision, the Guantanamo Bay decision last week and this decision on immigration this morning, both have even broader implications.

Because in short order — in just seven or eight days — the Supreme Court of the United States and its liberal judges have turned American law upside down. And let’s look back further to the past to see just how they’ve also done this. They have stripped voters of free speech rights, limiting production and participation in political debate. The Supreme Court of the United States has stripped homeowners of rights to their own property should politicians decide to seize it for developers. That’s the Kelo decision. And I have a friend who lives in Connecticut. He sent me a note last week, or it might have been the week before last. He said, “Do you know that the property that they seized in Kelo is still undeveloped?” The woman that they kicked off her own property is gone. They took it, seized it, kicked her off. She’s gone. The property is gone. They haven’t done anything to develop it? It’s blank; it’s barren. And yet this was a case where there was a specific developer who was to go in and do specific things that was going to generate more and more tax revenue for this local community and it hasn’t happened, but the woman got kicked off of her property nevertheless.

The Supreme Court of the United States has stripped homeowners of rights to their own property in more ways than just Kelo, by the way. The Supreme Court of the United States has stripped parents of the right to discipline their own kids. The Supreme Court of the United States is in the process of defining the very definition of marriage. They have ruled against legal immigration. They’ve ruled illegal immigrants must be accorded the same protection as citizens, and American taxpayers must support them financially. They have pushed God from the public square. They have used junk science to place the interests of animals above the prosperity of people — and the Supreme Court of the United States has stripped the most sacred protection, the right to life, from infants in the womb. Whatever power that liberals cannot achieve at the ballot box they seize through the courts. This is the change that Barack Obama and his fellow liberals have been waiting for. And the America they are creating and want to create is not the America we know, nor is it an America that most of you will even want to know.

EDITORIAL: Is the United Methodist Church running an illegal alien underground railroad in Nebraska?

Posted by nebraskaobserver on June 5, 2008

The Nebraska Observer recently learned that the United Methodist Church at their annual meeting April 23-May 2, in Ft. Worth, TX, adopted resolutions covering both global migration and immigration issues in the United States

The Methodist’s U.S. domestic resolution calls for “full protection of all workers, which includes the opportunity to gain legal status for all migrants.” It also urges U.S. lawmakers to ensure that immigrant laws do not rip apart families.”

Their global resolutionadvocates for the unification of families divided by borders and commends refugee resettlement work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief.”

A revision of the Social Principles replaces a statement on migrant workers with a more global perspective. “We call upon governments and all workers to ensure for foreign workers the same economic, educational and social benefits enjoyed by other citizens,” the new statement says.

So what does this mean for Nebraska MethodistsFirst and foremost, fellow Nebraska Methodists contacted by the Nebraska Observer said “that they did not get the memo from their church on this one!”  Secondly, members are not aware of this vast left-wing/liberal conspiracy by minority members of the Methodist church who are advancing an “open-borders” and unconditional “amnesty” agenda. The third point is the big one.  They are not aware that their church contributions are going to support this illegal and unpatriotic activity.

The liberal CNN authorized a poll by the Opinion Research Corporation, Jan. 14-17, 2008 which indicated that about 65% of Americans would like to see the number of illegal immigrants decreased while about 35% would like to see the numbers increased (5%) or remain the same (30%).  Now if we extrapolate this to the average Methodist church congregation or to the total United Methodist Church membership….Op’s, it looks like a lot of us didn’t vote on that measure in Ft. Worth!

We are a nation of laws. The opposite of laws is pure “anarchy“.  This group of traitors against the American citizenry within the Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist and other denominational faiths would have you believe that we can pick and choose which laws we want to obey.  If a personal conviction dictates that you don’t like the law, you can disobey the law (sounds like the 60’s doesn’t it?).  Here’s what federal immigration law says.

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

  • assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or
  • encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or
  • knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.

Disregarding those laws which we the citizens have put in place to protect us, these misguided unpatriotic anarchists continue to aid, abet, and pursue human smuggling so illegal aliens can get jobs.  This has created theft, rape, robbery, murder, repeated drunk driving, wage depression and document fraud within our communities.

Nebraska citizens who NOW cannot comprehend what illegal immigration does only has to look at our FUTURE by studying unfettered illegal immigration results in Arizona, California, , Illinois, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Texas, for example.  It’s not rocket science folks!

These “liberal” open-borders nuts can’t justify their position based upon facts or logic, so they have to appeal to your emotional side and quote certain bible scripture to fit their actions.

This is the same kind of liberal mumbo-jumbo that the Methodist Church in Nebraska went through several years ago when one church and pastor in particular wanted to perform “same-sex” marriages.  It literally broke that church apart and the outrage from the general membership started to divide other congregations.  Fortunately, this matter was resolved.

Catholics, Lutherans, Methodist and other denominational members should be saying to their priest/pastor and fellow members “Not in my church!…Not in my back yard!”  This group of traitors against U.S. laws and the American citizenry pose a potentially serious danger to the body of any church.  If DHS and the DOJ had any “cahunes”, they’d bust these churches which have become sites for breaking laws.

So what started this rant in the first place?  The Nebraska Observer noticed this item in a local state newspaper.

SCHUYLER — United Methodist Church Missionary Deb Keeney will speak at two churches June 8.

She will speak at 8:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in North Bend and at 10:30 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler.

Keeney is the program manager of Justice for our Neighbors-Nebraska (JFON-NE), a faith-based outreach ministry of the United Methodist Committee on Relief. The mission of the JFON-NE is to welcome immigrants into our churches and communities by providing free legal services, education and advocacy. Volunteer driven clinics are held in Columbus on the last Tuesday of each month.

For an appointment or more information, contact JFON-NE at (402) 898-1349.

Justice For Our Neighbors (JFON) is an arm of the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church. The mission of JFON is generally to provide free immigration legal services, a warm welcome (their words) and advocacy to immigrants in their congregations and communities.  Notice that JFON is careful not to say above that they are offering these services to illegal aliens.  Instead, they say immigrants. Now we all know that legal immigrants don’t have an urgent need for these services because they are legal.  Could it be that the services they are offering are felonies under Section 274?

Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist and other denominational churches don’t believe immigration agents will make arrests inside their churches but ICE agents have the authority to arrest anyone violating immigration law, anywhere.

This would be a good time for North Bend and Schuyler residents to go and protest the Methodist church aiding and harboring illegal aliens in their community.  Let’s see, you also have a location and the time.  It might also be a good time to call ICE.  Also, notify the Nebraska Minuteman and ask them to protest.

(Remember: You read it first at the Nebraska Observer.  Not in the Omaha World-Herald, Lincoln Journal-Star or any other Nebraska news media.)
