Celebrate or defend?

Cinco de Mayo (May 5) is a date of great importance for Mexican communities. It celebrates a victory of the Mexican Army in 1862 over the French, who had come to conquer their country. It came to represent a symbol of Mexican unity and patriotism, demonstrating to the world that Mexico was willing to defend itself against foreign intervention.

It appears, however, that same philosophy is wrong for the United States. While, it’s not war, we’re slowly being invaded by illegal immigrants refusing to assimilate themselves into our society. But we’re not allowed to fight against foreign intervention.

Quite to the contrary, we’re expected to roll over, accept their illegal invasion of our country and make concessions at every turn to accommodate them, all while losing our independence.

Not only are we expected to make them legal residents of our country; we’re also expected to pay them with our tax dollars for doing this to us. Kind of ironic, isn’t it? They celebrate their national identity while invading our country.
