Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation & State Patrol serve search warrant on Agriprocessors yesterday
The Iowa attorney general’s office had the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) along with the Iowa State Patrol serve a search warrant at the Agriprocessors Inc. plant in Postville. This Kosher processing plant was the site of a huge Immigration raid in May.
The plant has been accused of violating child-labor laws and worker-safety regulations. Earlier this month, the state Division of Labor recommended that the Iowa Attorney General’s Office file charges after 57 cases of child labor law violations at the plant were uncovered.
Apparently, no one was hauled off but they were probably searching for records. Of course, no comment from Agriprocessors.
So far, top executives and the plant’s owners have not yet faced any charges in connection with the raid or alleged child labor violations. Two lower-level supervisors recently pleaded guilty to Immigration charges and we are betting that the Feds are getting close to charging the exec’s and/or owners.
